Terms of service

These terms apply to merchants who install Mint Labs Free Gift ("the app"), made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

The service

The app adds gift-with-purchase and Buy X Get Y offers to your Shopify store: an app embed that adds and removes gift lines in the cart and shows progress messages and a gift picker, an automatic discount (a Shopify Function) that makes gifts free and applies Buy X Get Y at checkout when your rules are met, and an admin area where you set up rules. We may improve or change features; we will not remove a paid feature you rely on without notice.

Your offers

You decide the rules, gifts and discounts. You are responsible for your offers, their terms towards your customers and having the gift products in stock. Gifts are made free by the app's automatic discount, which combines with other discounts as you set in the app; check your offer in a test order before announcing it.

Billing

Plans are chosen on Shopify's plan page and billed by Shopify every 30 days in USD after the free trial. You can change or cancel at any time on that page or by uninstalling the app. Charges are handled entirely by Shopify under Shopify's terms.

Availability and liability

We work to keep the app available, accurate and secure, but it is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid for the app in the 3 months before a claim.

Data processing addendum

When the app processes personal data of your customers on your behalf, you are the controller and we are the processor. We will:

  • process personal data only to provide the app's features, following your instructions given through the app's settings;
  • process only the minimum data needed: the app stores no personal data of your customers. The cart stays with Shopify; the checkout discount runs inside Shopify; report counts hold rule IDs and dates only; rate limits use a salted, daily-changing one-way hash of the IP address;
  • never sell personal data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models;
  • keep it confidential and limit access to authorised personnel;
  • encrypt it in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Cloudflare D1 encryption at rest);
  • use Cloudflare (hosting and database) and Shopify as our only sub-processors;
  • delete all store data after uninstall (shop redaction), and report counts after 400 days;
  • help you respond to data subject requests and notify you without undue delay of any personal data breach.

Changes

We will post changes to these terms here and update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
